I hate the idea of 'coming into line with the rest of the country'. Basically, it means doing what NSW does. Our prep year is about to be 'brought into line'. What we've currently got is best practice by world standards - kids go to school 5 days, have a play based (but highly intentional) program of pre-reading and writing that is fun and engaging. Next year we put them behind desks all day.
We've still got 3 terms down here. For now. In 2012 we come on line with the rest of the country.
ReplyDeleteI like 3 terms. And seeing as Tassie's weather is at its best in February, it'll be a shame to have everyone back at school by then.
